Review

Started the year off right with a Circus concert. The Infinity Music Hall is a magnificent old Victorian mansion that has been converted into a music venue. The stage is big, and raised about four feet above the floor. There is a big sweeping proscenium arch that makes you think you're at an opera. There are plenty of seats, including a balcony in the back of the hall. Food is served in the adjoining restaurant, although the prices are high and the several times I have been there I sought out a less expensive alternative in the neighborhood.

Speaking of the neighborhood, Infinity is in Norfolk, a tiny hamlet somewhere in the wilds of northwestern Connecticut, officially the Middle of Nowhere, the kind of place you would never, ever go to, not even drive through, if it didn't have a music venue. But once you've found it, it's worth the trip. After entering the building, you see that the walls are decorated with photographs of musical icons from several decades of popular music. One goes upstairs to get to the performance space.

The Circus were still partially in holiday show mode, playing the Christmas carol version of "Slambovia" (which combines, during the holidays, with a familiar Christmas carol riff), as well as "Winter Wonderland." Joziah commented that this New Year's Day show was an experiment for them, not knowing if it would be a good day to perform a show, and he was happy to see so many folks showed up.
