Review
Mark O'Leary and Denya LeVine played a free concert on the lawn at the Jonathan Bourne Public Library. It was a somewhat chilly night, but the music was hot. These two accomplished musicians worked with the theme of sea shanties, and also mixed in a variety of traditional songs, and ended their show with optimistic songs by Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. There was also some fun singing along.
It was a very enjoyable hour of harmony singing and music from guitar, ukulele, fiddle, bodhran, concertina, and bones. Mark mostly played guitar, switching to bodhran, concertina, and bones for one song each; Denya primarily played fiddle and switched to the uke a couple of times. There were a couple of a cappella numbers.
Thanks to the Jonathan Bourne Public Library for their very enjoyable free summer concert series and to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring the series. In my concert going career, I've been known to drive a good number of hours to see a show; it's nice to drive ten minutes and plop down a lawn chair for a thoroughly enjoyable hour of music instead.
